Passing the football. In a way, it’s a sport within a sport, almost like putting is a game within a game for golfers.
There are many different types of passers in modern football. There are the quick, snappy passers, the metronomic build-up passers and the defence-splitters (the Kevin De Bruynes and Lionel Messis of the world).
We wanted to see who completes the most passes per 90 minutes in Europe’s top five leagues, so we trawled through the Football Whispers Lab to come up with the top ten.
