The Chilean forward is out of contract next summer and refusing to sign a new deal. Subject of Manchester City transfer rumours over the summer, today’s papers suggest the 28-year-old is now a Manchester United transfer target.
Sánchez has been in and out of Arsène Wenger’s side this season owing to a combination of injury and his readiness to play in light of persistent transfer speculation.
He has been limited to just four appearances and a single Premier League start which came in the 4-0 humbling at Liverpool in August.
But the former Barcelona forward will remain at the Emirates Stadium until January at least after a potential move to the Etihad Stadium collapsed on deadline day with the two sides unable to agree a fee.
Speaking earlier in the month, Gunners boss Wenger admitted it would probably cost the North Londoners around £70million in transfer fees to replace the want-away forward.
“You take a Sánchez into the final year of [his] contract, you sacrifice £60-£70million income and at the end of the season, you will have to buy somebody for that amount of money,” said Wenger.
“It has a huge price so at some stage you have to make a decision, you have to sacrifice one or two.”
With that in mind, Football Whispers have come up with five players who could fill the void when Sánchez finally leaves Arsenal. You can watch the video above to see who we think the Gunners should sign.
