Combined XI: Liverpool/Chelsea

They are both unbeaten this season but that will change when Liverpool take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup third round this evening.

Jürgen Klopp’s side have been excellent in the opening weeks of the campaign, winning seven straight games in all competitions to sit top of the Premier League and their Champions League group.

Chelsea had been matching the Reds stride for stride until the weekend, where they were held to a 0-0 draw by a stubborn West Ham United side at the London Stadium.

And while the Carabao Cup would be bottom of both clubs’ priorities list this season, there is no doubt Klopp and Maurizio Sarri will be desperate to progress in the competition.

There may be changes, but with Liverpool looking to continue their momentum and Chelsea hoping to kickstart their own, the two sides that take to the field may be stronger than we usually see at this stage of the competition.

Several of the world’s great players may be on display but how would they all fit into the same side?

In our video above we’ve picked out a combined XI of both Chelsea and Liverpool players. One thing is certain, it’s an excellent side.
