A drop of the shoulder and an incredible solo run leaving Italy defenders nowhere near him was all it took for many in Europe to sit up and take notice of then Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos last summer.
That saw him make a July move to the Spanish and European champions Real Madrid, with big things expected of the youngster, who was one of the stars of La Rojita’s run to the European Championship final.
Big things were expected of Ceballos, who in the previous two seasons has completed more dribbles (133) than any other under-21 player in the league.
In 2016/17, he was fouled more than any other central midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues.
But despite Real Madrid struggling in La Liga, sitting in fourth, the 21-year-old has failed to get much game time in the Spanish capital.
He has made just two starts in La Liga, with four appearances off the bench. Despite being under-used, he has found the net twice.
And that has led to talk of him seeking a move away in January.
Reports in Spain suggest he is not happy and wants to leave the Madrid club, with Liverpool and Arsenal linked with interest once again.
Zinedine has said he doesn’t want to lose anyone in January, but this is one which could run all the way through the January window.
