Football Whispers understands Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is in London ahead of a prospective deadline day move.

The England international has refused to sign a new deal with the Toffees and is out of contract next summer. As a result, the Merseyside club want to movd Barkley on before he can leave for free next July.

Everton were reportedly demanding £50million for Barkley earlier in the summer which scared off a number of interested clubs. However, their valuation has decreased over the past week and the Toffees could be willing to do a deal at £30million.

Chelsea are believed to be leading the race for Barkley, who is currently out injured with a hamstring and isn’t expected to return to action until November.

The Blues have had a bid of £25million rejected but are expected to return with an improved offer before the window closes tonight.

Barkley is also a Tottenham transfer target. Last season’s Premier League runners-up have been tracking the 23-year-old throughout the summer but haven’t submitted a bid. And Barkley’s injury is reportedly putting Spurs off making a late attempt to sign the midfielder.

A third option could open up to Barkley, however as Arsenal, who look set to sell Alexis Sánchez to Manchester City, are reportedly considering a move before the window closes at 11pm.

Barkley’s decision to station himself in London on deadline day could prove a smart one. Everton have maintained throughout the day they haven’t received an offer for their academy graduate.

So any deal involving Barkley could be done late in the night. The fact he won’t have to travel down from Merseyside to undertake a medical and agree personal terms should speed up any potential transfer.
