Every day Football Whispers pore over Europe’s major news outlets in search of the latest transfer reports relating to your club.
We then assess the reliability of the rumours, determine the likelihood of the moves, and analyse where the potential signings would fit in.
De Gea Wants Real Madrid Move
Reports in Spain suggest Manchester United goalkeeper de Gea wants to join Real Madrid this summer. Don Balon say the former Atlético Madrid stopper has told his agent Jorge Mendes to get the deal done.
The 26-year-old has been a Real Madrid transfer target for a number of years now but it had appeared he would be staying at Old Trafford this summer. Los Blancos have refused to give up hope and the Spanish press suggest José Mourinho is preparing for life without the Spanish No.1.
With Ederson joining Manchester City for £34.5million, it would take a world-record bid of around £50million to convince United to let him go. Real also still have Keylor Navas between the posts, who proved he is no stand-in last season.
Until publications like Marca or AS are going big with this story there are reasons for Red Devils fans to be confident that this is nothing more than gossip.
Zidane Eyes PSG Full-Back
If Danilo joins Chelsea this summer, Real coach Zinedine Zidane has picked out Thomas Meunier as his replacement – according to Marca.
The Belgian international only joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer but impressed enough to force Manchester United transfer target Serge Aurier to start on the bench more than the Ivorian would have wanted.
With Dani Alves’ arrival at the Parc des Princes, the Parisians have three right-backs on their books. Someone is going to have to give way.
Meunier started 18 games and picked up four assists last term. Zidane feels he can prise the 25-year-old away from Paris. He is a threat going forward and would be a perfect fit at the Santiago Bernabéu to play back-up to Dani Carvajal.
After Bellerín Comes Semedo
Rumoured Manchester United and Manchester City transfer target Nelson Semedo is joining Barcelona. After they were warned off a €40million move for Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín, the Catalan club have agreed to pay Benfica €30million to bring in the right-back.
After a few failed experiments, the Portuguese defender finally comes in as an adequate replacement to Dani Alves – who left for Juventus last summer. Semedo is 23 and played 31 league games for Benfica last term, picking up six assists.
Milan Chase Chelsea and Manchester United target
AC Milan are the biggest story in Italy this summer. They are splashing the cash like a care-free National Lottery winner and it doesn’t look like stopping. Linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it’s clear the Rossoneri are looking at bringing in another striker.
Now, Milan are ready to fight for Andrea Belotti, a Chelsea transfer target. The 23-year-old, who has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, is seen as a natural replacement for Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge, and Sky Italia suggest Milan are willing to meet his £89million release clause.
With 26 goals in 34 starts for Torino, he is Serie A proven but is yet to best tested at an elite club. Another two years in Italy with Milan could be the ideal progression, rather than jumping to England and the Premier League champions.
Another option for the forward is French giants PSG. After missing out on Kylian Mbappé, and being priced out of a move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Le10Sport suggest the Parisians will now make Belotti their main target this summer.
New sporting director Antero Henrique plans to push PSG to the top of the list if the Italy international does decide to move this summer.
Lamela Could Move Back to Italy
After five goals and nine assists during the 2015/16 campaign, last season was supposed to be Erik Lamela‘s time to kick on to become a real force in the Premier League.
However, mysterious injury problems meant he only managed 593 minutes and hasn’t played for the club since October after undergoing hip surgery. Looking to rebuild their squad, Luciano Spalletti is keen to bring Lamela back to Serie A with Inter Milan.
In 67 games for Roma, the Argentine winger scored 21 times, more than he’s managed in 121 appearances for Spurs. Playing in Spalletti’s 4-2-3-1 system could be exactly what the 25-year-old needs to rediscover his full potential.
CalcioMercato report that if Lamela does leave, Mauricio Pochettino could bring former Liverpool winger Suso back to the Premier League as his replacement.
Liverpool Continue Chase for Naby Keita
Liverpool transfer target Keïta is the man that Jürgen Klopp has put at the top of his wanted list.
After weeks of negotiation with RB Leipzig, Bild report that the Merseyside club finally submitted a bid. It is thought to be worth £75million, which is supposedly what the Bundesliga side wanted, but they rejected the deal.
This won’t be the end of it. The player will lose his loyalty bonus if he admits he wants to leave, or tries to force the deal. Liverpool would surely be able to compensate his loss, but the 22-year-old remains just out of arm’s reach for the Reds.
As it’s only the start of July there is a long way to go and when clubs start spending £50million on full-backs, what price do you put on a rampaging box-to-box machine who scored eight times and added seven assists last term?
Liverpool will likely reach a little deeper into their pockets and find the money to appease whatever RB Leipzig want for the Guinean.
