It’s no secret David De Gea is a brilliant goalkeeper – the best in the world, perhaps – and in this week’s Three Minute Myths we reveal how much Manchester United have relied on the Spaniard this season, and look into where they’d be without him.
When we put the question to travelling supporters at United’s visit to Crystal Palace on Monday, they were split as to where the Red Devils would be without their No.1.
The 27-year-old has put in several world class performances this term – most notably against Sevilla in the Champions League and against Arsenal in his side’s 3-1 victory at the Emirates – and we’ve simulated all of those matches with an ‘average’ goalkeeper between the sticks for United instead of the Real Madrid transfer target.
And, as a bit of fun, we’ve simulated De Gea’s effect on the three sides currently in the drop zone, one of whom are Palace. The results are certainly surprising.
Arsenal fans may too be interested in our results, as we reveal where United would be if they swapped De Gea for Petr Cech.
