Everton manager Ronald Koeman goes into yet another Europa League game with a crisis on his hands. The Toffees went into their opener against Atalanta having failed to win a game in four and a weakened XI lost 3-0.

This time the crisis centres around Koeman being without first choice centre-backs Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane.

During the pre-match press conference, the Dutchman confirmed both would miss the match against Apollon Limassol.

“Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka are not available for tomorrow and they are doubtful for the weekend,” he said.

However, Koeman, who came under intense scrutiny for his decision to rest key players in Italy, did confirm he would name his strongest possible team. He admitted his team need to go on a “revenge” mission after their terrible display in their group opener against Atalanta.

He said: “It’s really important. We like to play full of confidence. The players get it out of themselves first and then from results.

Oumar Niasse, the hero of Saturday’s win over Bournemouth, is ineligible for the match after not being named in the Europa League squad. Wayne Rooney, gashed eye and all, is expected to start along with Sandro Ramírez up front.

The big decision will arrive at centre-back with Ashley Williams in need of a partner.
