Manchester United will set a new club record for their longest unbeaten run within a single top-flight season if they avoid defeat against Swansea this weekend.

United’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Thursday extended their current streak without Premier League defeat to 24 games, matching their best-ever single-season spell, which was in 2010/11.

And as they search for a top four spot that would guarantee them Champions League football, they know a win would see them overtake Liverpool, who don’t play until Monday.

The Red Devils have a number of injury concerns, with Zlatan Ibrahimović out for the season, and Marcos Rojo, Juan Mata, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all long-term absentees.

After the draw with City, there are selection issues in midfield.

Paul Pogba will still be missing, while Marouane Fellaini will serve the first game of his suspension for headbutting Sergio Agüero.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah also picked up a shoulder injury in the closing seconds of the game at the Etihad and will miss the visit of the Welsh side.

That could see Wayne Rooney restored to the starting lineup for the first time for only the second time in the league this calendar year.

Up front, Marcus Rashford is likely to carry on up top, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right.

Anthony Martial started on the left against City, but after a not particularly inspiring performance, perhaps Jesse Lingard could come back into the fold.

And it will be a fight-out at left-back between Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw.
