Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United have FA Cup history, and the two sides meet in the quarter-finals on Saturday (7.45pm) with a place at Wembley up for grabs.

In 1983 the two sides met in the final and drew 2-2 with Brighton famously denied a winner when Gary Bailey saved from Gordon Smith – a miss made famous by Peter Jones’ immortal piece of commentary: “…and Smith must score!”

The replay finished 4-0 to United five days later and Brighton’s shot at glory was gone. Now the pair meet as Premier League equals at Old Trafford.

Chris Hughton’s side will take inspiration from Sevilla’s shock 2-1 win in the Champions League on Tuesday as they bid to make the last four.

Brighton will be without Dale Stephens (knock), Izzy Brown (knee) and Steve Sidwell (back). Jiří Skalák (ankle) is a doubt. Anthony Knockaert is serving a three-game ban for his red card in defeat at Everton.

Our unique algorithm has predicted the Brighton side it believes will start the game.
