If you want drama, follow Torquay United. The Gulls were 15th when the Vanarama National League season was curtailed yet they’d out-scored three of the division’s play-off hopefuls.

Conversely, Gary Johnson’s side still had a negative goal difference, courtesy of the 61 strikes they shipped in 2019/20. Goals have been certainly been guaranteed at Plainmoor during the club’s maiden campaign back in non-league football’s top tier.

However, with the season lost to COVID-19, Torquay were among the first sides in the National League to announce their released and retained list for 2020/21, whenever that will be.

In the latest episode of Conference Call, BBC Radio Devon’s Harry Salvidge joins Will Evans and Tom Bodell to go in-depth on the Gulls.
