When Andrew Robertson arrived at Liverpool last summer there was little fanfare to greet his signing.

In a summer that saw big-money transfers, with the likes of Neymar and Ousmane Dembélé moving clubs for upwards of £100million, an £8million buy from a club that had just been relegated from the Premier League wasn’t going to get too many fans excited.

While the Scotland international had been impressive at Hull City, there was no indication of how successful he was going to be at Liverpool.

But after a slow start the 24-year-old has knocked Alberto Moreno out of the team and established himself as the first choice left-back at Anfield. He has even been hailed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

The former Liverpool midfielder told BT Sport: “He’s done terrifically well since coming in and the fans have taken to him. It’s not just about Luis Suárez and Fernando Torres, the top players that come, the fans love someone who gives 100 per cent.

“He’s come in and he’s a very humble kid and gives it his all every game. I think Jürgen Klopp managed him very well at the beginning. He’s got him used to the way of playing and used to the system.

“To be fair to the kid. He’s been excellent.”

And in the video at the top of the page, we look into why Robertson has settled so well at Anfield and dive deeper into how he helps to get the best out of Sadio Mané.
