There were some shock results across Europe this week, with La Liga leaders Barcelona losing 4-3 at home to Real Betis and Serie A contenders Inter Milan overturned by Atalanta.

It’s safe to say no player from either side – even the returning Lionel Messi, who scored twice at the Camp Nou – make our Team of the Week for this week.

There have been some standout performers elsewhere, though.

In particular, Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus, who led a youthful, table-topping BVB side to victory over Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The Germany international scored twice and Signal Iduna Park and he leads the attack from deep in our select XI.

Salomón Rondón leads our attack beside Alassane Pléa and hat-trick hero, Edinson Cavani. The powerful Venezuelan scored his first and second goals for Newcastle United on Saturday, helping the Magpies secure a crucial three points against high-flying Bournemouth.

They are joined by a strong supporting cast yet if you think we have missed anyone out tweet us at @FB_Whispers with your suggestion.
