Across Europe it was a weekend of run-of-the-mill victories, think Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 stroll over Nimes, and hard-fought wins, Juventus’ 1-0 success in Bologna comes to mind.

Yet there were also a number of impressive individual displays from both players and teams alike.

Watford, for instance, recorded their biggest ever away victory in the Premier League. Inspired by former Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu, the Hornets clinched a 5-1 win in South Wales on Friday night.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Lionel Messi was doing Leo Messi things against Sevilla.

The Argentine star scored a brilliant hat-trick at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and also created Luis Suárez’s stoppage-time fourth as Barcelona clinched a 4-2 victory to maintain their lead atop of La Liga.

Obviously, those two La Masia graduates lead our team of the weekend but find out who else made the cut by watching the video above. If you think we’ve missed out anyone, then let us know by tweeting at @FB_Whispers on Twitter.
