Evening window update

OK, it's 6pm, lets get real for a second, it's been an emotional day, but we're not done yet.

Let's see what we are still waiting to happen tonight.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs are all done for the window.

Manchester United have waved goodbye to Marouane Fellaini, we're waiting on confirmation that deal is done.

Arsenal, well, they are still hoping to get a loan move for Christopher Nkunku over the line.

Chelsea, perhaps could still make a late move for a midfielder, but it's unlikely. They are probably just happy Callum Hudson-Odoi isn't going to Bayern.

Burnley are going to confirm a deal for 38-year-old Peter Crouch, yeah that's happening, but they are also trying to do a deal for Birmingham City's Che Adams.

.
.

Everton look to have won the battle to keep Idrissa Gueye and PSG have moved on to Lille's Thiago Mendes.

The Ligue 1 champions are also trying to bring in Luciano Acosta from DC United.

Youri Tielemans is in Leicester to confirm his loan move to the Foxes, with Adrien Silva going to Monaco in return. A good deal for everyone involved.

Premier League offers Tielemans ideal opportunity to kickstart development

West Ham may or may not bring in a forward, but a deal for Michy Batshuayi looks dead in the water, although he's be a great fit there.

Why Chelsea should cash in on Willian

Three goals in 23 appearances is not enough for a forward starting for a top six club.

Chelsea need to cash in on Willian, and here's Adam Newson to explain why.

This term his goal threat has diminished further – Hazard’s open-play xG per 90 stands at 0.24 while Pedro is registering 0.38 – while he is also no longer as effective when taking on defenders.

This is perhaps because Willian has never been a dribbler in the mould of Hazard; rather than trickery, he uses a burst of acceleration to nip past opponents.

Don't do it Chelsea

Chelsea shouldn't get sucked into Doucouré rumour roundabout

As we reported earlier, Chelsea have been linked with Watford's Abdoulaye Doucouré, but FW writer Mark Thompson thinks it would be a bad idea.

Doucouré is a true box-to-box player, able to break up attacks, progress the ball up the field, and make well-timed runs into the box to finish off moves. He was Watford’s top-scorer last season with seven goals, although that tells you as much about the Hornets’ attack as it does the midfielder.

But how well would this actually translate to Chelsea, the latest club whose grain is being ground through the transfer rumour mill?

Probably not very.

Arsenal are pushing for a couple of deadline day deals and we think the loan deal for Yannick Carrasco could be a master-stroke from the north London side.

There was more end product to his game under Diego Simeone, however. His assists per 90 of 0.40 was only bettered by one midfielder between August 2017 and February 2018, while his goals per 90 of 0.30 was the eighth highest.

With PSG signing Leandro Paredes and desperate to do a deal with Everton for Idrissa Gueye, there will be no room for Abdoulaye Doucouré to join the 'club of his heart', but maybe moving to Chelsea would ease the pain.

He's scored three league goals and added five assists this term, with his box-to-box runs and abiity to pass and defend, he could be the perfect bridge between Jorginho and N'Golo Kanté, but it's unlikely Watford will let him go easily on deadline day.

Perisic agrees deal with Arsenal

Ivan Perisic wants to leave Inter, which caused the club to leave him out of their squad for the fixture against Torino this weekend.

Italian newspaper Libero are reporting the Croatian international has already agreed terms with Arsenal.

They suggest he would earn €3million net until June with an annual salary of €6.5million until 2022.

In context, this would be more than Alexandre Lacazette earns. Casting doubt on the validity of the report.

Despite this, they suggest there is still no agreement with Inter, they apparently haven't settled on a figure for the loan with an option to buy.

Denis wants Arsenal, Barca want £17m

Suárez a natural addition to Emery's Arsenal evolution

We previously wrote about how Denis Suárez would be the perfect fit at Unai Emery's Arsenal, but there is a spanner in the works.

Barcelona want to sell the midfielder valued at £17million, and he only wants to sign for the Gunners.

Arsenal can't afford the permanent deal and they have offered £1.7m to take him on loan for the rest of the season, but they haven't agreed a future deal.

Maxi Gómez: The throwback striker lighting up La Liga

Sky Sports are suggesting representatives of West Ham United and Celta Vigo are in talks regarding the signing of Maxi Gomez.

Celta Sporting Director Felipe Minambres said: "I believe that we will retain our most important players because it is the intention of the club to be strong. But with the English you never know.”

"A good player, and a winner, and hopefully that rubs off on everyone around the football club.

"There were lots of other clubs interested. We spent a bit of time on it and we've convinced him it will be a good challenge for him.

Only a Mata of time

Yesterday, John Cross of the Mirror broke the story of Arsenal's interest in securing Juan Mata on a free contract in the summer.

Perhaps as filler, perhaps he has actually information, but he name dropped Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona into the copy, but this morning Goal.com have built on the story.

Juan Mata remains the Premier League's wasted genius

They understand, Barca are interested in bringing the Spanish playmaker to the Nou Camp in the summer. They suggest the Catalan club have made contact with his representatives.

It all seems a bit odd. Where does he fit at Barcelona?

They have just secured the signatures of one of Europe's hottest midfielders, a position they are already stacked in. They have the likes of Coutinho, Ousmane Dembélé and a guy called Lionel Messi.

Experience could be a factor, a well-respected professional who can guide this next generation of Barca kids, but is Mata at that stage yet?

If Leandro Paredes is bound for PSG, it still leaves Chelsea without the midfielder they craved at the start of the window.

In the video above, we looked at where the Cagliari player would fit in Maurizio Sarri's midfield. Apart from just being a passer, Barella is great in defence too, his 57 tackles made this season ranks him second in Serie A.

Jordan to the Toon

Newcastle United are close to completing their first move of the window, signing Jordan Lukaku on loan from Lazio.

The younger brother of Manchester United's Romelu, the 24-year-old joins until the end of the season and Newcastle have the option to buy the defender in the summer. No fee has been announced.

A Belgian international with eight caps, he has struggled to get back into the starting XI after a knee injury, but has come off the bench in seven of Lazio's last 12 games.

Althought labelled as a left-back, he is prone to pushing forward and has played a number of games in midfield too. Although he has only managed to provide six assists in 72 appearances.

15:31

Arsenal keen on Nkunku

PSG are on the hunt for a midfielder, with Leandro Paredes, Julian Weigl and Idrissa Gueye just a few of the names mentioned.

If they can land someone, it could see Nkunku move on loan to Arsenal. He is a player Unai Emery will know well from his time in the French capital.

The 21-year-old has played 46 games in Ligue 1 over four seasons, starting five times this year.

Initially seen as a box-to-box midfielder, he has also played on the wing in a three-man attack, scoring six times.

A lack of consistent playing time has made it difficult to know just how good he could become, but is certainly someone worth looking at as a potential short-term signing. He could blossom into something special.

More on Celtic target Maryan Shved

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he does not 'know a great deal' about winger Maryan Shved, but he did confirm the club are in talks to sign the Ukrainian.

Although the club is blessed with a number of wingers, the youngster would likely be loaned out at first and it was more a move to 'benefit the club in the future'.

He is currently back in the country of his birth, for his second spell with Karpaty Lviv. He originally left in 2015 to join Sevilla's Under-19 side for €1million.

Progressing up into the second team, he featured once in the Spanish third-tier, but played most of his games for the youth sides, making six appearances in the UEFA Youth Cup.

This term he has started 17 times in the league, playing either as a right-winger in a 4-2-3-1 formation, plus, a few stints as a centre-forward when they pack the midfield.

Stronger on his left-foot, he's no stranger to a spectacular strike, either from distance, or cutting inside off the flank to create time and space to unleash a rocket.

He certainly has an eye for goal, looking to get on the end of crosses when the ball is on the left, which has helped him score eight times this season.

As Rodgers suggested, he may not be ready to light up the Scottish Premiership just yet, but he is definitely one to watch.

PSG react to losing out on De Jong

Paris Saint-Germain were never going to stand still. Jilted by Frenkie De Jong, the young Dutch midfielder choose Barcelona over them, so they, like the super-rich, multi-millionaires, that they are, must REACT.

Like a partner on the rebound looking for love, or a man enduring a mid-life crisis buying a sports car, money will be spent.

Now, you can throw in a €100million move for Napoli's Allan into the names of midfielders the Parisians are chasing say Sky Italia.

Leandro Paredes, Julian Weigl, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Idrissa Gueye, the list goes on. They will sign someone, but you can't help but think they are buying in spite, rather than where their issues actually lie.

Wolves key to Morata sale

.
.

Gonzalo Higuaín's arrival at Chelsea should give Álvaro Morata the green light to sign for Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish club still need to move a couple of pieces to complete the deal.

Krzysztof Piątek joined Milan too, Gelson Martins looks to be on his way to Monaco, which would take the Atleti closer to being able to offer the Spanish striker a contract.

One option for Diego Simeone's side could be the permanent sale of Jonny Castro to Wolves.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan and has played 19 times in the Premier League, earning him a place in the Spanish national team.

If Nikola Kalinić doesn't want to leave the Spanish capital, a deal for the defender could be what they need to do in order to sign Morata according to Cadena Ser.

Until something is announced, there could still be twists to the tale, but with a promised salary of €16m-per-year, making him one of their top earners.

You know it's the transfer window when...

Let's have a look at some of the "news" arond Europe.

Diario Gol - take with a huge pinch of salt - are reporting Florentino Pérez already has deals in place to sign Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino and Chelsea's Eden Hazard. It would cost them around £265million for the double deal.

  • Imagine if both those players each went for less than Barcelona paid for Ousmane Dembélé. Nope.

Meet the PSV flyer Premier League clubs are tracking

Over in Italy, Tuttosport (based in Turin), suggest Milan are ready to bid €20m for Manchester United target Steven Bergwijn in the summer. Obviously suggesting the English club will have to up their efforts.

  • A known target, hard to see the Italian side being any form of competition if United are interested. But it's all speculation until we know who'll be in charge at Old Trafford.

They also think West Ham could turn to Duvan Zapata if they lose Marko Arnautovic to China this month.

  • Definitely not fueled by the fact the Atalanta striker scored four goals against Froisnone at the weekend. Nope, not a coincidence at all. Although his record of 14 goals in 15 starts is ridiculous.

Bakambu: A Ready-Made Striker For The Premier League

Mundo Deportivo think Barcelona are interested in former Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu. The former France Under-21 international is currently playing in China. He would cost around €40m.

  • Interesting the fee mentioned was what Beijing Sinobo Guoan paid for 27-year-old. He scored 19 goals in 23 games, unlikely they wouldn't want a profit on their investment. It would also be an odd move for the Catalan side.

Carroll singing at Spurs

.
.

There were always going to be some weird and wonderful names linked with Tottenham Hotpsur this week, especially after the injury to Harry Kane and their struggle to beat Fulham at the weekend.

Not sure anyone foresaw Andy Carroll being one of them.

He could be on his way to north London for just £2million report The Sun. His contract is up at the end of the season, he's not been a regular at the London Stadium, so there's no reason for the Hammers to keep him if an offer comes in.

This season, per 90 minutes, he's averaging 3.25 scoring chances and 9.21 aerial battles won, but he's yet to create a chance or score a goal. And as our persona model shows above, he's not exactly similar to Kane.

Seems like a signing Spurs don't need, especially with Fernando Llorente still at the club.

Never go back

Malcom and Barcelona clearly isn't working out.

It's a deal they both wanted, but predictably, the former Bordeaux man, with only 97 minutes of action in the league, hasn't worked out.

The old saying is, you 'never go back' but Roma apparently don't subscribe to that notion, with The Sun linking them with potentially trying to sign the Brazilian.

Which is odd considering he spurned them in the most dramatic way.

No doubting the 21-year-old is a talented player, scoring 12 goals, adding 7 assists for Bordeaux, but he's damaged goods.

Spurs have been mentioned too, as they perhaps need reinforcements up front, but as a left-footed winger, who comes inside, he is not really the answer.
