Alphonse Areola is a French goalkeeper, born on 27th February 1993, who plays for Real Madrid. He signed for his hometown club in 2009 and quickly made his way through the ranks. Once he progressed into the first-team ranks he was loaned on three separate occasions to RC Lens in Ligue 2, SC Bastia in Ligue 1 and then Villarreal. With the Spanish club, he helped then reach the semi-finals of the Europa League. He helped France win the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2013.
