David Luiz

David Luiz is a Brazilian centre-back who plays for Arsenal. Born in Diadema, Brazil on April 22, 1987, Luiz started his career at hometime club São Paulo. But he was released two years later before signing for Vitória. It was there the former defensive midfielder became a centre back. In 2007, Luiz joined Portuguese side Benfica, initially on loan, where he spend four years before being snapped up by Chelsea in 2011. At Stamford Bridge Luiz won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup. But in 2014, Luiz moved to PSG in a £50million deal – a world record for a defender at the time. On the final day of the 2016 summer window, Luiz returned to Stamford Bridge in a deal thought to be worth £34million and, in April 2017, was named in the PFA Team Of The Year as Chelsea won the title.
