Ignacio Fernández

Ignacio Fernández, born on the 12th January 1990, is an Argentine midfielder who plays for River Plate. Born in the province of Buenos Aires, he joined Gimnasia La Plata in 2005 and worked his way up the youth divisions to debut for the first team in 2010. After spending 2011-12 on loan at Temperley he returned to help Gimnasia to promotion into the Primera División in 2013, and moved to River Plate in January 2016 for just over US$2m. Later that year, he won his first trophy with River, the 2016 Recopa Sudamericana.
