Ignacio Scocco

Ignacio Scocco is an Argentine striker, born on the 29th May 1985, who plays for River Plate. His career began in 2003 for Newell’s Old Boys, and in July 2006 he moved to Mexican side Pumas for US$3.2m. In July 2008, a US$2.35m deal took him to AEK Athens of Greece, where he remained for three years before moving to Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates for US$4m in July 2011. He spent 2012-13 on loan with Newell’s – during which time he was top scorer of the Argentine league as Newell’s won the Torneo Final – before heading to Brazilian side Internacional in mid 2013 for US$5.5m, and on six months later to English side Sunderland, who paid US$5m. He remained in England just six months, returning to Newell’s for US$4.4m. Scocco has won two Argentine league titles, a Greek Cup, a Persian Gulf Cup and a United Arab Emirates Supercup.
