Jason Demetriou

Jason Demetriou is a Cypriot international defender who plays for Southend United. Born in London on 18th November 1987, the centre-half or right full-back came through the youth set-up at Leyton Orient and made his senior debut in League Two in February 2006. From 2007 to 2010 Demetriou became established in the Orient first team before a move to Cyprus with AEK Larnaca and Anorthosis Famagusta, where he would make more than 100 appearances in the First Division and feature in the UEFA Europe League group stages. He returned to England with Walsall in July 2015 and reached the League Two play-off semi-finals that season, before signing for Southend United on a free transfer in July 2016. Demetriou made his international debut in February 2009 and has more than 30 caps for Cyprus.
