Jayson Leutwiler

Born on 25th April 1989, Jayson Leutwiler is a former Swiss youth international goalkeeper who plays for Blackburn Rovers. The tall, athletic shot stopper was registered with FC Basel for seven years, where he was part of the club’s junior sides during a trophy-laden period for the first team – which also included loan spells followed at FC Concordia Basel, Yverdon-Sport and FC Schaffhausen. He signed for Middlesbrough in August 2012, making his debut in a League Cup tie a month later, before joining Shrewsbury Town in July 2014 – and was an ever-present during the club’s promotion from League Two that season. At international level, despite representing Switzerland at junior level, Leutwiler qualifies for Canada through his mother and received his first call-up in October 2016.
