Juan Mercier

Juan Mercier is an Argentine midfielder who currently plays for San Martín de Tucumán. He was born on the 2nd February 1980, and made his debut for lower division side Flandria in 1997. From Flandria he signed for Deportivo Morón in 2002, moving to Tristán Suárez in July 2004 and Platense in 2005, before making the jump to the top flight with Argentinos Juniors in 2007. He was a vital part of the side which won the 2010 Torneo Clausura title, before being sold in July 2011 to Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia for US$1m. Six months later he joined Emirati side Al Wasl, then being managed by Diego Maradona, but left on loan in July 2012 to return to Argentina, signing for San Lorenzo in a move that was later made permanent. With San Lorenzo, Mercier has won a league title and the 2014 Copa Libertadores.
