Julian Baumgartlinger

Julian Bumgartlinger, born 2 January 1988, is an Austrian footballer playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the Austrian national team. In 2001 he left Austria to join the renowned youth academy of TSV 1860 München. He made his first team debut in 2007 but after having only played 13 times, mostly as substitute, he joined Austrian FK Austria Wien to return to his homeland after eight years in Germany. In Vienna he spent two successful years, he became a regular for his club as well as for the Austrian national team. This attracted the attention of Bundesliga team 1. FSV Mainz 05 which ensured his services for a transfer fee of a presumed €1,100,000. On 19 May 2016, it was announced that Baumgartlinger had signed a four-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen after the club paid a reported £3.5 million for his services.
