Leonardo Ponzio

Leonardo Ponzio is an Argentine defensive midfielder, born on the 29th January 1982, who plays for River Plate. After debuting in 2000 for Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario, he was a member of the 2001 Under-20 World Cup-winning Argentina team, and moved to Real Zaragoza in Spain in 2003. In January 2007 he signed for River Plate for US$3.5m, but returned to Zaragoza two years later. In 2012, he rescinded his contract with the Spanish club and signed once more for River, on a free transfer.
