Neil Etheridge

Neil Etheridge is a Philippines international goalkeeper who plays club football for Cardiff City. Born on 7th February 1990, in London, to an English father and Filipino mother, Etheridge opted to represent the Philippines at international level – winning the first of more than 50 caps in June 2011, which has included FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. At club level, his career began in West London as part of the youth set-ups at Chelsea and then Fulham – he would make his senior debut for the Cottagers in a UEFA Europa League group match in December 2011. A series of loans took the young keeper from Non-League football to Leagues One and Two, including spells at Bristol Rovers and Crewe Alexandra. He signed a permanent deal with Oldham Athletic in October 2014 before switching to Walsall ahead of the 2015/16 season – in which he would play in 40 of 46 League One matches, plus both legs of the end of season play-off semi-final against Barnsley.
