Niall Canavan

Niall Canavan is a former Republic of Ireland international defender who plays for Plymouth Argyle. Born in Yorkshire on 11th April 1991, the tall, commanding centre-half had spent the first 200 matches of his career (to the start of the 2016/17 season) almost exclusively between Scunthorpe United and Rochdale – although he also had a short loan spell at Shrewsbury Town in 2011, where he featured in the end of season League Two play-offs. In May 2016 he signed a new two-year contract at Spotland. Canavan was first called up by the Republic of Ireland at U21 level in March 2011.
