Paulo Gazzaniga

Paulo Gazzaniga is an Argentine goalkeeper currently at Tottenham Hotspur. Born in Sante Fe, Argentina on 2nd January 1992, he moved to Europe and joined the youth set-up at Valencia as a schoolboy. After graduating from the Juvenil A side at the Spanish giants the tall shot stopper was released and joined English football in League Two with Gillingham in July 2011 – making his professional debut in a Football League Trophy tie against Barnet in October of that year. Gazzaniga would go on to make over 20 appearances for the Kent club before signing for Southampton for an undisclosed fee in July 2012. Behind Artur Boruc and Kelvin Davies in the pecking order, the youngster featured heavily for the Saints’ U21 and U23 sides, but has played more than 20 times for the first-team, including Premier League appearances, after making his debut in a League Cup tie against Stevenage in August 2012. Gazzaniga joined La Liga 2 side Rayo Vallecano on a season’s loan in July 2016. He returned to St Mary’s in the summer of 2017.
