Rene Gilmartin

Rene Gilmartin is a former Republic of Ireland U21 international who plays for Bristol City. Born in Dublin on 31st May 1987, Gilmartin moved to England in July 2005, making his senior debut in the September in a League Cup tie against Chesterfield. Five years playing at youth and senior level at the Bescot Stadium followed before a transfer for a first spell at Watford in July 2010. Loan moves have taken the Irishman to Hednesford Town, Worcester City, Yeovil Town and Crawley Town before permanent transfers to Plymouth Argyle and then St Patrick’s Athletic, where he was part of the squads that won the 2013 League of Ireland and 2014 President of Ireland’s Cup. He was re-signed by Watford in August 2014.
