Sone Aluko

Sone Aluko is a Nigerian international forward who signed for Reading on a free transfer in July 2016. Born in London on 19th February 1989, Aluko joined the Birmingham City’s youth academy before making his senior debut with the Blues in a League Cup tie against Hereford United in August 2007. Loan spells during 2007 and 2008 at Aberdeen and Blackpool came before a permanent move to the former during the 2008 summer transfer window. Following his release from the Dons, he signed for Rangers as a free agent in 2011, however following the club’s demotion for financial irregularities at the end of that season, Aluko was released from his contract and joined Hull City; helping the Tigers win promotion to the Premier League that season and in 2015/16. Aluko also has an FA Cup runners-up medal from the 3-2 defeat by Arsenal in 2013/14. Aluko played for England and youth level but was first capped at international level by Nigeria in May 2009.
