Stephen Dawson

Stephen Dawson is a former Republic of Ireland international midfielder who plays for . Born on 4th December 1985, in Dublin, Dawson began his career in the Leicester City youth academy but left for Mansfield Town in 2005 without breaking into the Foxes first team. He would make more than 125 appearances for the Stags during a three-year stay, and the all-action defensive central midfielder would spend three more years in the division with Bury – narrowly missing out on promotion in 2008/9. He would make the step up to League One, with Leyton Orient, the following season before making climbing another level to the Championship with Barnsley after a move in January 2012. After being arrested for, but cleared of, match-fixing allegations in 2014, he signed for Scunthorpe United in July 2015 and was made captain during the 2015/16 season.
