Stephen Ireland is an Irish attacking midfielder, born on 22nd August 1986, who plays for . Ireland joined Manchester City when he was 15, after many clubs had been turned off signing him because of his Osgood-Schlatter disease. His competitive debut came for the club in 2005 and he enjoyed several successful seasons in the side until he became marginalised in 2009-10. He was then used as part of the deal that saw James Milner leave Aston Villa and join Manchester City. Again, he was in and out of the side, which saw him join Stoke City on the loan for the 2013-14 campaign. The deal was made permanent in summer 2014. Ireland made his senior international debut in 2006.
