Steve Mandanda

Steve Mandanda is a French international goalkeeper who currently plays for Marseille. Born on 28th March 1985 in Kinshasa, DR Congo, Mandanda moved to France with his parents aged two and began his football career at Le Havre in 2005. After a trial at Aston Villa, he signed for Marseille on loan in 2007 and permanently a year later – during an eight-year stay in the South of France. ‘El Fenomeno’, as he is known to fans, made over 100 appearances for Olympique – more than any other goalkeeper in the club’s history – and won a league and cup ‘double’ in 2009/10, plus two more Coupe de la Ligue (French League Cup) trophies in the following two seasons. He signed for Crystal Palace for £1.5m in June 2016 after returning from UEFA Euro 2016 with France. Mandanda made his international debut in a friendly against Ecuador in May 2008 – he has been named in the France squad for three European Championships plus the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
