Vincent Kompany

Vincent Kompany is a Belgian defender who plays for RSC Anderlecht. Born in April 1986, Kompany is a graduate of the Anderlecht academy and grew up playing in either central defence or as a defensive midfielder. Beginning as a 17-year-old, Kompany resisted moves away from Anderlecht as he focused on his development before moving to Hamburg in 2006. In 2008, Kompany signed for Manchester City for around £6 million and became their club captain once he had established himself. The Belgian lifted the Premier League title in both 2012 and 2014. Having made his international debut at the age of just 17, Kompany was made captain of his national team in 2011.
