Wayne Routledge

Wayne Routledge is a former England U21 international who plays for Swansea City. Born on 7th January 1985, the diminutive, rapid winger has had a number of different clubs during his career, which began as a junior at Crystal Palace. After more than 100 league appearances for the Eagles in the old English First Division (Championship) and Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur paid £1.25million for the youngster in July 2005. Three years at White Hart Lane preceded a £1.5m move to Aston Villa in January 2008, where he played in the UEFA Cup –while time was spent on loan at Portsmouth, Fulham and Cardiff City. Routledge was part of Championship-winning sides at Queens Park Rangers in 2010 and Newcastle United in 2011 before a £1.75m move to Swansea City in August 2011. In 2012/13 he scored five goals in 44 appearances, including the 2013 League Cup final win at Wembley. Routledge was part of the 2007 England U21 side that reached the semi-final of the 2007 European U21 Championship.
